The different diameter pipe usually adopts the forming technology of shrinkage and expansion pressing, expansion pressing or shrinkage pressing, and can also be formed by stamping. The stamping process is mainly aimed at some special specifications of different diameter pipe. The shape of stamping die can refer to the design of inner surface dimension of different diameter pipe.

In order to solve the problem that the diameter of the different diameter tube is too large to be formed by shrinkage, the tube blank with the diameter smaller than the large end of the different diameter tube is adopted, and the tube blank is expanded along the inner diameter of the tube blank by the internal punch.

The tube blank with the same diameter as the big end of the tube is put into the forming die, and then the metal moves along the die cavity and shrinks to form by pressing along the axial direction of the tube blank. Due to the different sizes of the head, the shrinkage forming can also be divided into one pressing forming or multiple pressing forming.

Sometimes, according to the forming needs of materials and products, the methods of enlarging diameter and reducing diameter are combined. In the process of shrinking or expanding deformation and pressing, cold or hot pressing is adopted according to different materials and different sizes. Generally, cold pressing is used as far as possible, but hot pressing is preferred for the case of severe work hardening caused by multiple diameter changes, the case of thick wall or the material of alloy steel.
