Conical head

The conical head is the head of the conical surface of the shell. It is characterized by the uniform change of velocity when the medium passes, which facilitates the removal of viscous liquids and solids, but the mechanical properties are poor, and the discontinuous stress at the junction with the cylinder or nozzle due to the sudden change of shape is larger. In order to reduce the discontinuous stress, circular transition with folded edges or local thickening structures can be adopted at the large or small ends of conical shells. The design code of pressure vessel in our country requires that when the half cone angle is greater than 30 degrees, the big end of cone shell should adopt a folded edge structure; when the half cone angle is greater than 45 degrees, the small end of cone shell should adopt a folded edge structure. Because the wall thickness of cone head is too thick to be manufactured conveniently, it is adopted only when the process needs.
